Early last week Tex Riley announced his candidacy for Blanco County Judge, an elected position that will be voted upon in the forthcoming November 2 general election. Tex filed his formal declaration for write-in candidacy Monday. The county judge may preside over cases involving criminal, civil, probate, guardianship, juvenile, and mental health law, and Tex notes that his extensive legal background makes him well qualified to serve as Blanco county judge.

Stuff the Bus will be on Saturday, August 7, from 9am - 3pm on the square across from the bank. We would like the community to check out the schools supplies list on the BISD website at www.blancoisd.org. There are kids in the BISD area who will need help with school supplies to start their school year off right!
Big brother, Elijah Brent Thompson, holds little brother, Kolton Wyatt Thompson, born on July 24, 2010. He weighed 7 lbs. 7.5 oz. and was 22 inches long. Proud parents are Dustin and Marcia Thompson of Friona, Texas. Grandparents are Ray and Diana Rios of Blanco and Daryl and Betty Thompson of Friona.
Tina and Lloyd Bipere are proud to announce the birth of their son, Lloyd Chance Bipere, born Saturday, July 24, 2010, at 8:21 p.m. at St. Davids in Austin. He weighed 1 lb. 13.8 oz. and was 13.5 inches long. Lloyd was born 15 weeks early and the doctors are amazed at how well he is doing.
RK and Priscilla Seals of Fischer, Texas, are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter Christy to Jon Anderson, son of Vicki Stewart of Plano, Texas, and Trygve Anderson, also of Plano. Christy is a graduate of the University of Virginia and the University of Texas at Austin. She is the principal architect of Loop Design in Austin.

The Blanco Youth Football League will begin practice on Monday, August 2, at 6:00 p.m., at the middle school practice field. This will be a very busy practice and all players need to attend. At this practice you will meet your child’s coaches, receive your child’s equipment, and turn in any paperwork that is still needed. Equipment will be handed out to tackle football players and conditioning practices will start.
The American Legion is proud to announce that Donnea Simon of the Memorial Highway Post 352 and Auxiliary Unit 352 has completed the 2-1/2 day 2010-2011 District/Division Commander’s School and Department of Texas 2010 Legion College held in Austin, Texas, from July 9-11. The Commander’s School covered such topics as duties and responsibilities of a commander, finances, organizing a district, membership, courtesies, and Legion programs.

Sean Henry Bailey
Travis, Evan and Wyatt Bailey would like to announce the arrival of their new little brother, Sean Henry Bailey. He was born on June 17, 2010, at 4:35 p.m. at Central Texas Medical Center in San Marcos. He weighed 8 lbs.14 oz. and was 21 inches long. Parents are Dave and Chris Bailey of Blanco.

Mr. and Mrs. Dorsey L. Smith proudly announce the engagement of their daughter, Tamara, to John Pearson, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Pearson. Both Tamara and John teach for Dallas ISD. The wedding is planned for July 2, 2010 in Arlington, TX.

Rachel, Brooke, and Lexi York would like to announce the birth of their baby sister, Braileigh Davis York. She was born on March 15, 2010, at 4:07 p.m. at Hill Country Memorial Hospital in Fredericksburg. She weighed 7 lbs. 7 oz. and was 20 inches long. Parents are Greg and Dawn York of Blanco.
