An ACC and TTU College Application Fair will be held on Saturday, June 14, from 9 am to 1 pm on the lawn of the Gillespie County Courthouse, Adams and Main Street, Fredericksburg. Students can complete an entire college degree in Fredericksburg by attending Austin Community College for the core curriculum and then transferring to Texas Tech University at Fredericksburg to complete their undergraduate degree. |

This past week, the Blanco FFA Chapter hosted an awards luncheon for its members to recognize achievements from the 2007-2008 school year in addition to handing out awards to outstanding individuals. In the area of animal production and proficiency, awards were given to Keaton Dodd for swine production, Katie Baker for cattle production, Victoria Jones for goat production, Claire Klepac for poultry production, Kaleigh Anderson for diversified production, and Austin Thompson for lamb production. |

The Blanco FFA Chapter was just recently recognized on the national level in two different competitions. On May 7th, the Blanco FFA Range Judging team traveled to Oklahoma City to compete in the 57th Annual National Range and Pasture Judging Contest. This year’s event consisted of more than 170 schools from 35 states. |

Senior Blanco FFA member Jared Newby has been awarded a $1,000 Tarleton State University Agricultural Scholarship for the upcoming fall semester. Jared will be attending Tarleton and majoring in Agricultural Services and Development. As a member of the Blanco FFA, Jared qualified for this scholarship after Blanco ranked 1st in two different contests at this year’s TSU Invitational Career Development Events, in addition to also placing third overall in the sweepstakes rankings. |

Corporal Joshua Margolies of the United States Marine Corp visited Mrs. Miller’s second grade class on May 23. Bethany Margolies, Joshua’s wife, is the granddaughter of the late David and Patricia Granberg. |

The Austin Board of REALTORS® (ABoR) Foundation is pleased to award scholarships of $1,000 to 10 graduating high school seniors in the Austin area. Each year, the Foundation recognizes students’ academic merit, extracurricular involvement and employment histories with scholarships that are good for use at any Texas college or university. |

Three members of the Blanco FFA qualified to earn $600 for the Blanco High School Library this past week as they were selected for the National FFA Scholarship. Senior Blanco FFA members Alisa Guler, Sarah Isenberg, and Ross McCormick were each selected by the National FFA Organization to receive a $1,000 Cargill Commuity Scholarship. |

The school year is coming to an end, but the memories made last week during the Blanco Elementary Corpus Christi Trip will last a lifetime. Every year, Blanco fifth graders are filled with excitement as they board charter buses and head for the Texas coast. This year was no different. |
