Varsity Defeats Canyon Lake 63 to 0

The 2008 Blanco Panther football season began with a bang as the Panthers dominated Canyon Lake for the season’s first win. Blanco looked impressive on both sides of the ball totaling over 550 yards in offense, while the defense would allow just 217 yards and force five turnovers. Offensively, the Panthers were almost perfect in the first half scoring on all six of its possessions. |

The Blanco Panther football team will host its annual “Tidy Bowl” scrimmage this Thursday evening at 6:00 pm vs the Mason Punchers. For admittance to the game we ask our fans to please bring laundry detergent or towels and leave them in the box provided by the admission gates. Please come out and support the 2008 version of the mighty BLUE and GOLD. |

Blanco Ranked #1 In District

The Blanco Panther football team endures the heat with the start of the 2008 season. Two-a-days began Monday, August 4 at the high school practice field. The Panthers 2007 season ended with a trip to Regionals and finished the year 11-2. They are ranked number one in district and number eighteen in the state for 2A. The Pantherette volley ball teams also started two-a-days this week. The Blanco Marching Band started their summer practices on Monday as well. See page B10 for more pictures of the Panthers and the Pantherettes. |

Football teams will be announced and all players will get a chance to run through the giant Blanco Panther. The Blanco All-Star Major Girl’s road trip has finally come to an end. On Monday night, July 21st, the team played in Waco at the Southwestern Regional Little League Complex on Reicher Field in the Texas West State Championship game against Waco Midway. The Midway team has been a major girl’s softball powerhouse for the past 25 years, winning 24 State titles and 11 World Series Championships. |

The 2008 Lady Panther Volleyball season will kickoff on Monday, August 4th at 7:30a.m. at the High School Track. This is the beginning of Two-a-days! All volleyball players will attend the morning session at the track, which will last until approximately 8:30a.m. Upcoming Freshmen will practice from 9a.m. until 11a.m. or so. |

Ross McCormick was selected to play in the Texas High School Baseball Association All Star game last month. This is a big honor for any high school baseball player in Texas. The game was played at Dell Diamond in Round Rock. Ross started in the outfield and represented the North squad and they defeated the South 9-7. Ross was also selected to the Texas Baseball Coaches Association All State Team. A special thanks goes to the Blanco National Bank for supporting Ross at the game. Ross McCormick and Justin Warner were selected to play in the San Antonio Optimist All Star Game last month. |

These Blanco Middle School Cheerleaders made All Star Cheerleader at UCA cheer camp this past month. They will get to travel to Houston in November to join the other UCA All Star Cheerleaders from across the state and march in the annual Thanksgiving Day Parade. They are trying to raise money to help cover the expense of their trip. |

The Blanco Little League has announced the Minor Boys All-Star Team. The players include: Hayden Calzoncit, Jonathon Campbell, Ross Edwards, Jesse Ferrell, Jackson Fordice, Chase Horton, Jeremy Kindla, Jack Morgan, Logan Parker, Hugo Rodriguez, Jacob Ruiz, Devin Sauerhoff, and Jordan Wagner. After 3 months of regular season baseball, these fine young athletes are now going through intense practice sessions preparing them for their upcoming post-season play. Heading the Team is Jessie Ruiz; his assistants include Eddie Calzoncit and Jason Parker. |

Super Squad of the Hill Country will make its debut the first week in September in Blanco Elementary. The after-school enrichment program covers a spectrum of activities including cheerleading, dance, pom pom, tumbling and much more. It’s designed to boost self-confidence, build character and encourage team work. This program is for everyone. |
