Dear Editor, On February 17, 2010, I went to the Blanco City Office to be placed on the next City Council Meeting Agenda on March 9, 2010. My purpose is to ask City Council once again to reconsider the Blanco Avenue name change. This has nothing to do with my respect for Ron Houston and the citizens wanting to honor him.

Dear Editor, This letter was read at the City Council Meeting on Tuesday, February 9, 2010, and I would like the good people of Blanco to read it as well: To: Members of Blanco City Council: Please do not think for one second that I resent in anyway the thought of a memorial to honor Mr.
Dear Editor, I attended the Blanco City Council Meeting on February 9 and left there feeling very proud of the citizens and council members. An issue that had sparked great controversy was heard and many people had strong opinions about it. What impressed me the most as a member of this growing town was that people came with prepared information, tempers did not flare, and their issue was expressed in a very professional manner to the City Council.
Dear Editor, Is it possible that we have something other than the president we elected? Is it possible that Obama is using the presidency as a disguise? How could anyone reject the pomp and ceremony, the splendor of the presidency, the power as Commander-in-Chief of the greatest military force on earth for an ideology that negates the oath of office? Or, is it possible that we elected a president who is incompetent for the job?

Dear Editor, This letter is in regards to the renaming of Blanco Avenue to Ron Houston Avenue. First of all, I wish to make it clear that my family and I feel that Ron Houston should be remembered for his friendliness and concern for Blanco’s well-being. Ron’s generosity with his time and effort supporting events and addressing issues in Blanco is well-known.
Dear Editor, The admonitions of Sherlock Holmes to his sophomoric friend seem especially pertinent today. Holmes would say, “Assemble the facts, and examine them with an open mind. The solution becomes clear unless you are a party to the crime.” The terrorists have hijacked the religion of Islam. Concurrently, there is an attempt to hijack the government of the USA by Socialists disguised as Democrats.
Dear Editor, A new year has arrived and I want to make a wish for the people of Blanco who I have come to love as surely as my own family. May 2010 be a wellspring of prosperity and generosity May you have good health and renewed strength May this be the year you discover your deep greatness Without suffering, may you realize your freedom May you judge less and discern more with compassion May you smile from your heart knowin ...

Dear Editor, I hope fellow Blanconians can refrain from calling Charley Pemberton a “teabagger”. That is a word used to describe a [sexual act], and in this case to diminish Mr. Pemberton. I am thankful for such a man as Mr. Pemberton; for organizing “Tea Parties” for those of us who feel shut out of current politics. Polls indicate that the American people do not want government run healthcare, government takeover of banks, cars ...

Dear Editor, Charley referred to the mess Obama inherited, but never mentioned it’s an 8 year mess. Can’t be fixed in 1 year! Oh boy… no attacks in 8 years, in spite of the fact Bush failed to get OSAMA or Ohmar (Taliban). Maybe his tough words, like “Bring ‘em on” and “Dead or Alive” scared ‘em off, or… was it the two wars, massive military expenditure in that area; at what cost??
Dear Editor, In the Blanco County News last week, comments that I made regarding the Courthouse and Lavender Festival were misinterpreted. Caution was the intent of my statement. Please assist the Blanco Police Department in keeping you and your property safe in this community. You are encouraged to stay observant and report any suspicious activities to the Blanco County Sheriff’s Office as soon as possible. The sponsors and patrons of the many ...
