The date of December 13, 2008 will be remembered by homeowner Stacy Kamas as a special time. First, she celebrated her birthday two days early with a yummy Italian cream cake specially made and decorated for her by Cerice Spivey, Missions Committee Chair for Blanco United Methodist Church (BUMC).

On the same day Stacy and the Blanco County Chapter of Austin Habitat for Humanity completed the “A Brush with Kindness” exterior improvements on her home.

Working in partnership with Stacy on Saturday were new Habitat crew members Michael and Ayse Cheslock. The two, who are professional painters, read about the Habitat project in the Blanco News and eagerly volunteered their expertise.

Other volunteers on December 13 included Danny Campos, Robert Cox, Peggy Foreman, David Hamm, Bill Irwin, Mike Kelley, Keith Michal, Bobby Rushing, Cerice Spivey, and Michael Young. Jan Booth served as hospitality hostess for the day, and BUMC members provided Subway sandwiches for lunch.

During the holidays, Lewis Eckenrode and his employees of T&E Services in Johnson City will add gutters to Stacy’s home. Crew chief David Hamm and a few others will finish details and clean the worksite. Congratulations, Stacy, and good job, Blanco County Habitat construction crew!
