The BYFL Varsity team took on the Dripping Springs Maroon team on Saturday. The Panther defense would dominate the first half, only allowing the Tigers one first down. Blanco’s offense would also control the first half, with great running by Andrew Burgess and Devlin Moore. The Panthers would drive inside the Tiger 15 several times, but four fumbles would eliminate scoring opportunities; leaving the score 0-0 at the half. With less than a minute into the second half, Colton Elrod would bolt 45 yards on a counter for a touchdown, and Jake Breeding would run in the extra point, putting Blanco up 7-0. The Panthers again would dominate the Tigers on defense the rest of the period, but offensively would turn the ball over on downs. In the final quarter the Tigers would drive to the Panther 15, but a pass attempt would be knocked down by Ty Royce and into the arms of Colton Elrod for an interception. Ty Royce would then take a reverse 38 yards to the Tiger 35 yard line when time expired, with Blanco taking the win. The Panthers posted their first shut out win of the season with strong play from Aikman Elrod, Carson Kipp, Hunter Goodman, McKay Adamson, and Andrew Burgess. Blanco improved to 3-2 on the season, and will face the Wimberley Texans this Saturday in Johnson City.
