The Health, Hope and Healing Cancer Resource Center is planning a “Think Pink” Tea Party Friday, Oct. 17, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the center, located in the Brune Professional Building, 808 Reuben Street in Fredericksburg.

Donna Lafferty, Cancer Resource Center coordinator, said all breast cancer survivors are invited. “Since October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, we wanted to emphasize the importance of early and continued vigilance for breast changes,” she said. “This tea party is a way to begin our collection of local survivor stories for all forms of cancer. I hope the stories will be a source of inspiration for people to get more information on cancer, adopt healthy lifestyles, and be able to address survivorship and caretaker issues.”

Fredericksburg Herb Farm will provide non-alcoholic “Arnold Palmer” drinks for the party. “We’ll blend our famous hibiscus iced tea with lemonade, to have a refreshing, iced pink tea to complement the ‘Think Pink’ idea,” owner Rosemary Estensen said.

Jane Woellhof of Showcase Antiques is donating special tea cookies, lending silver trays and providing two Limoge teacups for door prizes. Jenee Weinheimer, owner of Sweet Pea, also has donated a pink-and-white children’s tea set in a wicker picnic basket and a children’s book as door prizes.
