Another big run by Justin Williams.

The BYFL JV Blue Panthers rattled the DS Tiger’s cage this past weekend. Although outweighed again by their opponents, the Panthers beat the odds. The Panthers struck first when Ryan Ronces returned the opening kickoff 65 yards for the touchdown, and also ran in the extra point putting the panthers up 7 to 0. The panthers were able to hold them defensively for most of the 1st half; however, the Tigers got a lucky break in the 2nd quarter and recovered a muffed punt that put them on the Panther’s 20 yard line. A few plays later they crossed the goal line and made the extra point tying the score 7 to 7. The Panthers answered back when Justin Williams ran a reverse from 25 yards out to put the Panthers ahead at halftime 13 to 7. Justin Williams had several runs for the day that contributed tremendously to the Panther’s running game.

The two teams played tough defense up until early in the 4th Quarter when the Tigers broke one up the middle for a 35 yard touchdown run. The Tigers extra point was unsuccessful bring the score to a 13 to 13 tie. With less than three minutes to play the Panthers were able to answer back when Jordan Wagner ran off-tackle for 30 yards to the goal line; the extra point was no good leaving the score 19 to 13. The Tigers got the ball back with just over two minutes left in the game; however, the panthers forced (and recovered) a Tiger’s fumble. With only seconds left on the clock, the Panthers simply let time run out.

Special recognition goes out to Jacob Ruiz; you did a great Jacob…way to go Jacob!
