Baby Mama is an unusual comedy starring Tina Fey and Amy Poehler (both from Saturday Night Live). Kate (Tina Fey) is a 37 year old woman desperately wanting to become pregnant, even though she has never had a serious relationship and has been completely consumed with climbing the corporate ladder at her job. Well, she decides that even though she isn’t married she is going to get pregnant and ends up trying a lot of different options, which lead her to discover that she has a one-in-a-million chance of becoming pregnant. So, she decides to try a surrogate mother and when she meets Angie and her common-law husband, Carl (Dax Shepard) things really start to get crazy. Just imagine putting an upper class working woman and a down and out couple together and having them try to get through nine months of pregnancy time with different opinions... let’s just say it’s pretty funny. Baby Mama offers plenty of laughs and is probably a comedy like you’ve never seen before considering the subject matter. 3 paws

Baby Mama introduces us to the world of surrogacy gone wrong in this weeks review. Saturday Night Live stars come together to tell the story of motherhood in this comedy that feels like a SNL skit at times. There was plenty of inside jokes about olive oil and other things that I would’ve looked at Noel and said “huh”, but now that Noel is 7 months pregnant, I didn’t miss a beat while this movie poked fun at certain pregnancy terms and ideas. The story has its moments and plenty of laughs, but kinda gets caught between a real movie and a SNL skit more than a few times. For the pregnancy laughs Baby Mama gets 2 ½ paws.
