Katie Baker - Champion Chianina

Labor Day weekend proved to be very successful for some local FFA members, as they competed and placed very high at the annual Kendall County Fair steer show in Boerne. Senior Katie Baker would lead the way winning champion honors in both the British and Chianina divisions, while also taking reserve champion with her Maine-Anjou. Shelby Moore also placed high, taking home the Champion Santa Gertrudis, along with the Reserve Champion Chianina and a first place British steer. Another Blanco FFA member exhibiting a champion was Keaton Dodd, in the American Breed Cross class, in addition to placing third in the A.O.B. division. Finally, Kaleigh Anderson would also do well placing first in the A.O.B. division and second in both the Maine-Anjou and Chianina divisions.

These four students, as well as several others, will now begin preparations for the upcoming Medina County Fair in Hondo on September 13th and 14th. The Medina County Fair steer show has proven to be one of the largest steer shows of the summer and fall with over 200 head competing each year.

Advisors for the Blanco FFA and Blanco Junior FFA are Jason and Felice Marek.
