Blanco Ranch Roundup To Be Held September 27

The Blanco Ranch Roundup, formerly known as Heritage Days, will be September 26 & 27 at Yett Memorial Park! This year will feature educational activities for school age children on Friday, and a barbeque dinner before the Homecoming game that night, for $6 a plate. Saturday will be a full day of western fun (10am-1am) with a cover of $10 per person at the gate. Children 12 & under are free. Seniors can pick up a discounted wristband for $5 at the Blanco Chamber the week prior to the event.

On Saturday, from 10-3, Blanco and Blanco County continue their 150th birthday celebration with the following program: welcome, prayer, proclamations, re-enactment of the forming of Blanco County, reading of Mrs. Blasingame’s letter (tied to the shooting of Callahan); a huge birthday cake in the shape of the county, local music; contests in washer toss and horse shoes, bocce ball, and 42/dominoes; a release of helium balloons, and more. Couples can sign up for the contests by contacting Rebecca Howerton at 833-4950.

Other “western-flavored” activities on Saturday are: food, arts and crafts vendors; The Buffalo Soldiers, the OST Gunslingers, the Fritz Town Free Trappers and Mountain Men, some Native American dancers, chuck wagons, blacksmithing, a Ranch Rodeo (late afternoon), Camp Cookie Review, Wooden Nickel dance band (from 5-9), and the Tommy Burney Band (from 9pm-1am).

This is Yett Memorial Park’s annual fundraiser. The park is used for many family and community events, including Little League and rodeos. Look for more information in upcoming editions of the Blanco County News!
