Donate Blood For Those In Need

San Antonio, TX –The South Texas Blood & Tissue Center (STBTC) is experiencing low counts of O Negative type blood. Filtered red blood cells, which are used for patients who have suffered trauma such as a car accident or gun shot wound and those awaiting surgeries, are needed every day. You can contribute to save the lives of up to three patients with one donation; no matter what your blood type is.

If you don’t know your blood type, we can help! When donating blood for STBTC, each donor receives a mini-physical which includes a blood pressure, pulse, iron level and cholesterol check. The results are then mailed to you, informing you of your cholesterol level and your blood type.

Donate blood at this upcoming blood drive in Blanco: Super S, 111 Blanco Ave.; Saturday, September 23; 2:00 pm- 5:00 pm

Next to knowing you saved lives, there are other incentives, such as being eligible to win a Weber Gas Grill from Jeff’s Backyard, getting an All-American Donor T-shirt and refreshments.

Donors who have already donated once since May 1st can donate once again before September 30 to receive his or her $20 HEB gift card!

Donors must present identification. Anyone 17 years of age weighing at least 110 pounds and in good general health may donate blood. Donors should eat before and after their donation and drink plenty of fluids. Fasting is not recommended.
