Quarterback Club Ex’es Plan Game
August 2, 1968
The Blanco Quarterback Club will have a meeting on Friday night, August 9 at 8:00 p.m. at the Football Stadium.
All quarterback Club members and anyone interested in participating in the Ex’es Football Game is asked to please attend. Plans will be completed at this time and teams chosen for the coming Ex’es Game.

Gem of the Hills President, Monta Knoll, urgently requests everyone who has assisted the organization in anyway whatsoever during the past four years to turn this information into her or any director immediately.
Dr. Shirley Beck is assisting the Gem Board in applying for grant money from private foundations to build a community center. Donations of money are documented in the treasurer’s reports, but donations of time, materials, food stuff, etc are important as in-kind contributions.

Stanley E. Morgan Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley E. Morgan of Blanco, has been promoted to sergeant in the U.S. Air Force.
Sergeant Morgan is an aircraft equipment repairman at Hickman Air Force Base, Hawaii, with the Military Airlift Command.
State Grange meet in Blanco
July 28, 1978
Blanco - - Blanco Valley Grange Chapter 1588 will host the 44th annual meeting of the3 Texas State Grange next Thursday through Saturday (August 3-5) at Blanco High School.
…Mayor Clarence Waxler of Blanco has proclaimed next week as “Texas State Grange Week.”
It will be the fourth time in the past decade that this city will host the group, according to State Youth Directors Jan and Verne Engel, Blanco previously playing host in 1968, 1973, and 1975.
Over 200 Grangers, possibly far more, are expected, said Mrs. Engel, with the convention actually beginning the night of August 2 when the red carpet committee welcomes the state officers.
Registration begins Thursday morning at 8:30 a.m. the opening at 9:00 a.m., with Blanco Mayor Clarence Waxler giving the address of welcome at 9:45 a.m. followed by the annual address of State Master R.G. Carter.
4-H County Council Meets
August 2, 1968
The 4-H County Council met July 10 at 8:00 p.m. in the County Courthouse. There were seven members and five adults present.
Plans were discussed for a 4-H County Camp. Decision was to hold it next summer.
They also decided on having one float for the Blanco County 4-H, instead of a float for each club, in the Fair Parade.
61 attend AARP meet
August 3, 1988
On July 19, 1988, after an invocation of prayer by Judge Charles Scott, sixty-one members and guests sat down to a casserole luncheon at Gem of the Hills.
President Bea Ellison called the meeting to order and Michel Archer read last month’s minutes, which were approved unanimously.
Introduction of our guest speaker Rose DuVall was done by Monta Knoll. This had to do with the building of individual recreational housing in Hays County, namely, Kyle.
The group will meet again on August 16th at Gem of the Hills at eleven thirty a.m.
