A Mothers’ Day Out program for toddlers started last Wednesday at the Uptown Art Center. The toddlers (aged 2-5) were treated to a spirited singing of “If You’re Happy and You Know It”, playing dress up, outside games, and created a “Book About Me”. They even had time for a story and healthy snack. Teacher Maggie Goodman said, “I don’t know who had more fun, them or me”. Class is from 11am- 1pm every Wednesday so Mom’s can have lunch with friend, run errands, or do something special. Uptown Blanco Art Center is located at 317 Main Street just off the square and classes run through the first week of August. This week the kids will make puppets to sing along with “Itsy Bitsy Spider” and next week they’ll try making cookies in a solar oven. There’s something great planned for every minute, and the activities are not just fun, they’re educational and developmental. Drop-ins are welcome, but please phone ahead so there are enough snacks, which the Art Center provides. Call Rebecca or Natalie at 833-2514 and they’ll let you know the very reasonable charge. The Art Center has classes for children of all ages and it’s never too late to sign up!
