Everyone is invited to free Movies under the Stars at the Lyndon Johnson Ranch, an evening just like in the drive-in movie days. The dates are July 26 for Oliver! and Aug. 9 for Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner. These are movies Johnson showed at the ranch and invited community members to watch.

Bring the kids and grandkids, chairs, blankets, jackets, flashlight and your picnic basket about 6:00 pm for the fun activities with the movie beginning about dark. The movies will be presented by Blue Moon Cinemas using a professional 40” inflatable screen and sound system allowing room for viewers to spread out and enjoy the show.

Oliver! Is a 1968 musical version of the Dickens novel about a young boy living in an orphanage who gets caught up with an unruly gang of thieves led by an evil old man. It lasts about 2 ½ hours.

Enter at the LBJ State Park and Historic Site on Highway 290, one mile east of Stonewall and 14 miles west of Johnson City. National Park rangers will direct cars to the airstrip behind the Texas White House on the LBJ Ranch.

For more information, call 830-868-7128, ext. 231 or 244 or check www.friendsoflbjnationalpark.org.The next LBJ Centennial event will be the opening of President Johnson’s restored office in the Texas White House on August 27, his birthday.
