During the Lavender Festival, the Byars Building on the square will be the scene of the chat room for the descendants of early Blanco settlers and pioneers. Visitors are invited to listen to stories of families, who have lived in Blanco since the 1800’s. There will be stories of Indian raids, feuds, shootings and the growth of a city and county. Below is a list of descendants for each day and the family represented:

Saturday, June 14, 2008 -10am to 12pm: Ken Holmes and Janelle Holmes-Blassingame, Felps and Holmes families. 12pm to 1pm: Bernice West--Trainer family (Founding Family). 1pm to 2pm: Carroll Lindeman-Lindeman family. 2pm-3pm: Dorothy Dillion-Carson family. 3pm to 4pm: Shirley Beck-Smith family.

Sunday, June 15, 2008 - Linda Howard--Blanco County History; 11am to 12pm: Linda Howard--Lawhon family. 12pm to 1pm: Lunch/open. 1pm to 2pm: Retta Martin/George Byars--Byars, Massey families. 2pm to 3pm: Bernice West--Hinds family (Founding Family). 3pm to 4pm: Maggie Goodman/Ron Houston--Callahan/Blassingame (dramatic reading of incident)

This schedule may change, but changes will be posted at the building on the day of the festival. There will attendants at the building to aid in the seating of visitors. Building is wheelchair accessible.
