The Blanco County Sesquicentennial will be celebrated in Johnson City on June 7, 2008, on the Blanco County Courthouse Square from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

The Sesquicentennial committee would like you to share your history with our friends and visitors. We are asking for groups, organizations, businesses, and families willing to have a booth or exhibit telling about their history in Blanco County as we celebrate the 150 years. Whether you have been a part of our community for one year or a hundred matters not; history is still being made. So come out and join us as we look back at our heritage, and create another chapter in history.

We are also still in need of concessions and food booths. If your nonprofit group would like to raise funds for your cause or undertaking, or you just want to share your awareness, please give us a call. To avoid having duplicate concessions, please call Rhonda Stell at (830)868-7275.

Musical entertainment will be provided throughout the day on the Courthouse lawn. Have a musical talent? Just call Penny Conn (830)833-5426, to join in the festivities.

Johnson City will be host to a busy schedule on Saturday, June 7th, kicking off the sesquicentennial celebration with Opening Ceremony at 10:00 AM. Then at 11:00 AM, a ground breaking ceremony will be held for the new Johnson City Public Library at their new site. For more information on this celebration, call Alan Dean at (512)567-2835. The Johnson City High School reunion for all JCHS graduates up to the class of 1979, begins at 1:00 pm with registration at the new high school. We know that many alumni will come to reminisce with former friends and classmates, and to revisit with pride their time spent in the Johnson City schools.
