The story of Blanco’s library began with a rack of shelves in Fulcher’s Drugstore, sponsored by Blanco Woman’s Club charter member Angeline Fulcher.
Over the years the library has expanded with the support of the Woman’s Club and the hard work of a large, diverse group of volunteers, without whom it could not function.
On April 29 the volunteers were honored at a luncheon sponsored by the Woman’s Club at the home of Jan Redmond. Over 30 volunteers enjoyed a meal of wraps, deviled eggs, Asian Noodle Salad, a watermelon basket designed by Dorothy Troppe, and a dessert of sherbet, cookies, and cream puffs.
Afterward, Jan read an “Ode to the Volunteers,” which included the name of each volunteer and his/her special contributions to the ongoing work of the library.
Finally, Woman’s Club president Nell Krueger presented a potted plant and a certificate of appreciation to each volunteer.
