Cloverfield

Noel–I heard a lot of terrible things about this movie; how the camera jiggled too much, they didn’t show the monster at the end and that it didn’t have a good ending. Well, the camera did move a lot but if you were being chased by a monster in New York and you happen to have a video camera I doubt you’d hold the camera very still either. They do show the monster, a few times actually, and that thing is quite TERRIFYING!! I did not expect this movie to be a horror/thriller but it was and I enjoyed this movie very very much. However, the ending did stop short; it does not explain anything about where or how the monster came to be but I almost think that it is better that way, otherwise we would have ended up with a stupid ending and a stupid explanation. 3 ½ paws!

Keith–One review I read about this movie said only three words…. Image Stabilization Needed!! This made me laugh so I thought I would pass it on, as for the subject of the shaky camera – it wasn’t so bad, maybe if I would’ve seen it on the big screen it would’ve been worse, but unless your sporting a 50-inch plasma I don’t think you’ll have problems on a standard size TV except for a scene or two. Now on to the movie, I liked it and I think the way it was done was unique. Cloverfield has the feeling of you discovering a ghost town and finding a camcorder with someone’s first hand account of why it’s now a ghost town, and this movie is exactly that, an account of someone just living in NY when this horror breaks out and the aftermath that follows. The end follows some recent trends of Hollywood goof balls that leave you guessing at the end, but just a little in this one, it didn’t just leave you with nothing or no clue, I think Cloverfield 2(I’ve heard there talking about it) will pick up and we’ll realize this was just the first account of what will be explained later. Unknown awesome creature and intense thrilling fear. 3 paws.
