2 Chronicles 7:13-14 – 13 “When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or command locusts to devour the land or send a plague among my people, 14 if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”
I’m learning to play a song on my guitar, and the first lines (of the song) are “what if the armies of the Lord, picked up and dusted off their sword, and vowed to set the captives free, and not let Satan have one more!”
So, what about it? Do you belong to the army of the Lord, and if so, what about picking up your sword (your bible) and dusting it off, and begin reading it, and speaking it, and wielding it, and set some captives free by teaching somebody that Jesus is the Door to heaven, and they can have eternal life in heaven if they believe in Him, and not let Satan have one more soul. Set someone free (from the captivity of sin and death in hell) by sharing God’s Word with somebody, and not only help them, but yourself, by planting seeds (the Word of God) and reaping the harvest of eternal life and a crown in heaven, by helping others to know about Jesus, and eternal life with Him, in heaven.
Jesus said in Mark 8:38 – “If anyone is ashamed of me and my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will be ashamed of him when he comes in his Father’s glory with the holy angels.”
The chorus (of the song I’m learning) is “What if His people prayed? And those who bear His name, Would truly seek His face, yeah, And turn from their own ways.”
Psalm 1:1-2 – “ 1BLESSED (HAPPY, fortunate, prosperous, and enviable) is the man who walks and lives not in the counsel of the ungodly [following their advice, their plans and purposes], nor stands [submissive and inactive] in the path where sinners walk, nor sits down [to relax and rest] where the scornful [and the mockers] gather.
2But his delight and desire are in the law of the Lord, and on His law (the precepts, the instructions, the teachings of God) he habitually meditates (ponders and studies) by day and by night.”
Are you praying for the rest of the world? “18Where there is no vision [no redemptive revelation of God], the people perish; but he who keeps the law [of God, which includes that of man]—blessed (happy, fortunate, and enviable) is he.” Proverbs 29:18 (AMP)
At our church, we pray for the leaders of our government, that they are guided by God, and that He keep us safe, and protect our sons and daughters who are fighting for our country. But we also need to pray that others (loved ones and perfect strangers) turn to our Lord, and receive Jesus, and repent from wicked ways, renew their minds by reading God’s Word, seeking His advice, and not advice from their friends.
Psalm 5:11-12 – “11But let all those who take refuge and put their trust in You rejoice; let them ever sing and shout for joy, because You make a covering over them and defend them; let those also who love Your name be joyful in You and be in high spirits.
12For You, Lord, will bless the [uncompromisingly] righteous [him who is upright and in right standing with You]; as with a shield You will surround him with goodwill (pleasure and favor).”
Remember this: Proverbs 28:9 says “9He who turns away his ear from hearing the law [of God and man], even his prayer is an abomination, hateful and revolting [to God].”
But, “The LORD is nigh unto all them that call upon him, to all that call upon him in truth. He will fulfil the desire of them that fear him: he also will hear their cry, and will save them.”” Psalm 145:18-19
