Jack Ray Burks, 75, of Blanco, Texas passed away on Saturday, April 19 in Fredericksburg at Hill Country Memorial Hospital. Jack was born in Goldthwaite TX. to Clifford and Lucile Burks on October 12, 1932. In his early years, Jack worked for several ranches in the Hill Country, including the Fair Oaks Ranch, specializing in cattle feeding and showing of cattle. During this time, Jack became a Master Mason with the Kendall Lodge in Boerne; he later became an affiliated member of the Blanco Lodge. After spending years in the show cattle business, Jack decided to settle his family in Blanco in 1964 where he opened his barber shop.

Jack is preceded in death by his parents, his two brothers Billy Burks and Bob Burks of Goldthwaite. He is survived by his daughter Pamela Dechert and husband Wallace of Henley, son Dale Burks and wife Jane of Blanco, daughter Linda Maritan and husband Mickey of Ackworth, Georgia, daughter Debbie Marbach and husband Bruce of Spring Branch, 12 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

Visitation is set for Wednesday evening 5 to 7 pm at Crofts Funeral Home, 911 Mesquite in Blanco. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10:00 am at Crofts Funeral Home; internment is to follow in Goldthwaite Memorial Cemetery, Goldthwaite, TX. At 2:00 pm.
