Ura Inez Crawford Rust of San Antonio, loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, died at Blanco Villa Nursing Home in San Antonio on Thursday, February 4, 2010, at the age of 92. She was the daughter of a pioneer Texas Hill Country family.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Vernon A. Rust; her parents, Ella and Andrew Madison “Jack” Crawford; a daughter-in-law, Margaret Cape “Margie” Rust; a son-in-law, Bob Buffington; and four sisters and two brothers.

She is survived by a son, Joe Carroll Rust, and a daughter, Mary Beth Buffington, both of San Antonio; five grandchildren, Joe Carroll Rust Jr. and his wife Joni, San Antonio; John Cape Rust and his wife Laurie, Leavensworth, Kansas; Amy Lorenz and her husband Robert, Glendale, California; Greg Buffington, Duncanville, Texas; and Marshall Buffington, Las Vegas, Nevada; four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was a member of Castle Hills Christian Church, San Antonio, an avid reader and storyteller, a witty lady and an amazing cook. She was a sometimes teacher, a sometimes seamstress and a sometimes community volunteer, especially in parent-teacher organizations, and always one of God’s most faithful servants.

She was born in Pipe Creek, Texas and had lived in San Antonio and the Hill Country and remarkably was a graduate of both Henly, Texas, High School and San Antonio’s Harlandale High School.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, February 8, 2010, at Crofts Funeral Home, Blanco, Texas, with the Rev. Ed Skidmore, Castle Hills Christian Church, officiating. Interment is in Pursley Cemetery, Mt. Sharp, Texas. Pallbearers are Joe Carroll Rust Jr., John Cape Rust, Greg Buffington, Bobby Wilson, Jimmy Wilson, C. A. Rust, P.C. Rust and Butch Dechert.

The family wishes to thank the nursing staff of Blanco Villa and the staff of Odyssey Hospice for their loving care of their mother. Donations in Ura Rust’s memory can be made to Castle Hills Christian Church or the charity of your choice.
