District wins were tough to secure for the Varsity boys this week as they lost 45-56 to the Randolph Ro-Hawks on Tuesday, January 26 and 56-58 to the Comfort Bobcats on January 29.
In their earlier district clash, the Panthers lost to the Ro-Hawks by nineteen points; this rematch was much closer with Blanco keeping it close until the final buzzer. Blake West led the squad, blazing the hooks for seventeen points. Austin Carrola pumped in thirteen and Tanner Rogers added eight.
The Comfort game was a rough and rowdy match-up. The Panthers were down by 14 points, but rallied at the end of the game, losing by two. With over forty fouls called in the game, forty more could have been called. Austin Carrola led the way with eighteen points, followed by Tanner Rogers with thirteen and Blake West added ten.
The Freshmen boys hammered the Ro-Hawks 46-16. Chad Marshall scorched the nets for fifteen points. James Leachman and Ian Ray contributed eight points each and TJ Hardin added seven. The Junior Varsity team lost a close game to Randolph, 31-35. Leading scorers were: Quinn Dillard - eight points, Kevin Vizcaino - six, and Gilbert Rodarte and Jordan Handberry with five points each.
Against Comfort, the Freshmen crushed the Bobcats 57-19. TJ Hardin was the leading scorer, firing in 21 points. Ian Ray made ten points and Will Byler added nine. The Junior Varsity fell to the Bobcats 13-41. Tyler Brown led the team with seven points; Lane Hoelting, Gilbert and Kevin each added one point.
The Varsity Lady Panthers continued their winning path to the play-offs, trouncing the Randolph Ro-Hawks, 53-28, on January 26 and the Comfort Deer, 57-24, on the 29th. With these two victories, their district record improves to 7-2.
Against Randolph, Lacee Hunter burned the hoops with seventeen points. Alyssa Warner battled for eleven points and Kayla Martinez popped the nets for ten. In the Comfort game, Senior Lacee Hunter again led the team, scoring fifteen points. Felicia Skillman ripped the nets for nine and Lindsey Jenkins added seven points. Alyssa Warner grabbed five rebounds, while Abbey Weaver and Lindsey Jenkins each made three assists and four steals.
The Junior Varsity girls pumped in the points against Randolph, 69-27, but lost a close game to Comfort, 37-45.
In the Randolph game, Susannah Campbell and Raini Romero lit up the scoreboard with seventeen points each. Mishelle Calzoncit added twelve and Kelsey Schwind contributed ten.
Against the Comfort Deer, Raini Romero and Kelsey Schwind led the squad with nine points each each. Susannah Campbell made eight points and Natalie Stahmann added seven. Leading rebounders were Raini, with eleven, and Kelsey with nine. Raini and Susannah each tallied three steals. Assists were made by Natalie, Kelsey and Raini.

Middle School Basketball vs. Comfort, January 28: Boys 7A Team lost 19-30, Boys 7B Team won, Boys 8A Team won 35-33 and the girls 7th and 8th grade teams won.
