Clarence Emil Waxler, 86, moved on to be with his Lord and rejoin his family and friends in heaven January 27, 2010.

He was born on October 29, 1923, in Hye, Texas, and lived in the Hill Country for 82 years before living in Poteet the last four.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Ida Waxler, and his wife, Helen Joyce Armke.

Clarence met Helen in 1952 while he was building the post office. They married January 18, 1953, and made a home for their three children in Blanco.

He developed his carpentry skills into becoming a very successful building contractor. Many homes and businesses in Blanco reflect his quality of craft. He served in the U.S. Army intermittently for five years.

Additionally, Clarence and Helen operated a ready-mix concrete plant and the Mobley Motel for many years.

He gave to his community generously. Clarence worked with the Chamber of Commerce, Lions’ Club, American Legion, Masonic Lodge, Grange, Fraternal Order of Eagles, Volunteer Fire Department and Trinity Lutheran Church.

During his two-decade tenure with the City, he appropriated many grants for development and progress as Councilman, Mayor, CAPCO and RC&D representative.

Clarence lived his entire life to the fullest. He never met a stranger. He enjoyed spending time with family, traveling, bowling, music and dancing.

He is survived by his sister, Nelda Haas of Blanco, daughter Connie Waxler of Poteet, son Charles and Terri Waxler of Blanco, and daughter Holly and Dan Warriner of North Richland Hills, Texas.

He thoroughly enjoyed his three grandchildren, Hayley Warriner, Carlie and Charlie Waxler.

A celebration of his life occurred January 29, 2010 at Crofts Funeral Home and interment at Blanco Cemetery, officiated by Reverend Don Ofsdahl.

The family appreciates the many acts of kindness and prayers.
