The Master Gardener Association of Blanco County kicked off the new year with their January meeting at the Blanco Library. The guest speaker for this meeting was Beth Patterson, co-owner of Lavender and Old Lace at Sunrise Antique Mall in Kerrville, Texas. Beth's presentation "Gifts from the Herb Garden" provided members and guests a plethora of ideas of items that can be made at home from your herb garden as well as mail order or internet sources.

The Master Gardener Association of Blanco County meets the second Tuesday of each month. Meetings include educational components of horticultural interest to Master Gardeners as well as to the general public. February's meeting will take place the evening of February 9 in Johnson City - location to be announced. The educational component will feature Dan Holland with "Butterflies, from the Ground Up". Dan will provide a pictorial overview of butterflies from larva to flight, host plant suggestions and information for the novice or seasoned lepidopterist. Feel free to bring a photo of a butterfly or larvae that has you baffled - you will probably get an answer at this session.
