Student receives Bachelor’s Degree
December 26, 1969
Barton Smith, Round Mountain, was awarded the Bachelor of Science degree from Tarlton State College December 21.
Smith was among 131 graduates, the largest winter graduation class in the history of the school.
The son of Lincoln L. Smith of Round Mountain received the degree in General Agriculture.
Kittens cop pair at DS

Dripping Springs – Blanco Junior High girls closed out the pre-holiday break with a pair of basketball victories here December 17, the eighth grade Kittens taking their first win of the season, 25-11, and the seventh grade evening their season record at 2-2 with a 19-10 triumph.
Coach Ann Beckham’s eighth grade dominated both backboards behind Linda Kay Upshaw with nine rebounds, support by Lea Twidwell - - Twidwell leading the scoring with 13 points while Upshaw added six and Sheila Wordsworth three.
Rebounding was also the story of the prelim victory as Pam Kneupper dragged nine balls back off the boards and Sheila Dechert took down six.
Jill Watson led the divided scoring with six points, Kneupper and Sheila Dechert had four apiece.
Library Will Close On Fridays for Christmas Holidays

The Blanco Library will be closed for the Christmas holidays on Friday December 26 and Friday, January 2.
It will be open as usual on Saturday mornings during the holidays.
No Story Hour

The FHA girls will not hold a Story Hour either on Saturday December 27 or Saturday, January 3, at the Library.
Friendship 42 holds party
December 28, 1978
The Friendship 42 Club met December 12 at the home of Hilda Smith.
First prize went to Bertha Felps, second – Imgard Weber, third – Gladys Reeves, fourth – Melaine Felps.
A short business meeting was held followed by exchange of Christmas gifts. There was one guest, Mrs. Frankie.
Next party will be January 9, 1980, at the home of Bertha Felps.
Blanco girl graduates SW
December 28, 1979
San Marcos – Vicki Heiligmann of Blanco graduated from Southwest Texas State University on December 15, 1979, receiving a B.S. in Commercial Art.
Attending the graduation services were her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles H. Heiligmann, and brother, Howard, also attending SWTSU - all of Blanco.
Also attending were her grandmother, Mrs. Selma Dullnig, Mrs.. Florence Shaw, Ronnie Dullnig, all of San Antonio; Mrs. Sandra Owens (Milton, Fla.), Gastav Beicker III, Mary Brandenburg and Jennifer, all of Seguin.
Afterwards, there was a party held in honor of the graduate at the home of her parents.
Commission for County Planning Is Organized
December 25, 1970
Organization of the Blanco County Planning Commission was completed at a meeting in Johnson City Monday, December 7.
Attending the organizational meeting were: M.B. Barrow, Blanco County Judge; Willis Cline, Johnson City; Clarence Waxler, Blanco; Sidney Mercer and Clifford Lehmann, farmers Home Association, Fredericksburg; Eph Cummins, District Conservationist, Soil Conservation Service, Johnson City.
The Planning Commission is composed of representatives of the County Commissioners Court and the towns of Johnson City and Blanco.
