Several Blanco FFA and Blanco Jr. FFA members did extremely well with their animals at the annual Dripping Springs Fall Classic Livestock Show held in Johnson City at the Blanco County Show Barn on Saturday, November 21. The Fall Classic is fast becoming one of the largest jackpot shows in the area with several hundred animals entered each year.

Jr. FFA member Dalton Savanich led the way for the local exhibitors taking Grand Champion honors in the lamb show with his Champion Medium Wool. In addition to winning grand overall, he also exhibited another class winner in the same division. Also doing well were Lainie and Logan Parker, as each placed 2nd and 3rd respectively in their crossbred and medium wool classes.

In the steer show, senior FFA member Kaleigh Anderson claimed top honors with her Simbrah steer as it was named the overall Champion of the American Breed Division. Kaleigh also placed 2nd and 5th with her Santa Gertrudis and Simmental steers. Senior Quaid Haack also represented the local FFA chapter well taking home Reserve Champion honors in the American division with his Santa Gertrudis while also finishing 2nd with his Maine-Anjou.

The pig show would see a large number of local exhibitors do very well, highlighted by Junior FFA member Brenna Wallace winning the Champion Jr. Showmanship buckle. In addition to her showmanship success, Brenna also took home a first place ribbon in the Cross division along with 3rd and 7th place ribbons in the Yorkshires and Durocs. Cody Perez also had a solid day taking home a 1st place Hampshire along with 2nd, 3rd, and 6th place OPB ribbons. Other Junior FFA members placing high included: Hanna Garrett with two 2nd place finishes in the Duroc and Yorkshire classes, Karley Burnett placing 2nd and 5th in the Yorkshire and Duroc classes, and Reilly Burnett finishing 5th and 6th with a Hampshire and Cross.

The largest show at this year’s Fall Classic proved to be the goat show. Jr. FFA member Alli West did very well placing 3rd in the market division. Hanna Garrett also placed high, returning to the show ring to win a 5th place ribbon while freshman Will Byler took home 5th place ribbons in both the breeding and market shows.
