Blanco’s churches will once again unite to serve a Thanksgiving dinner–complete with turkey and all the traditional trimmings–for local residents next week.
“We’re calling it the Community Service of Thanksgiving,” explained Dayna Leggett, associate pastor at Trinity Lutheran Church. “After the meal, we’ll share traditional Thanksgiving hymns and a message.”
The non-denominational dinner will be hosted in the fellowship hall at the Lutheran church Tuesday, November 24, at 6:30pm.
Other congregations–First Baptist Church, Blanco United Methodist Church, St. Ferdinand’s Catholic Church, St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church, New Hope Lutheran Church, and Kendalia Community Church–will bring vegetables, salads and desserts.
“We’re planning on serving around 150 people,” added Leggett, who will give the evening’s devotional.
There is no cost for the meal. However, an offering will be taken, and proceeds will benefit the Blanco Ministerial Alliance, which assists local people in need.
