Glen and Ruby Barnard are proud to announce the birth of a great-grandson, Joshua Jordan Boyd, born in Colorado. Woohoo!

On FaceBook, I have noticed that a lot of posts have to do with things to be thankful for - so since Thanksgiving will be here next week, think of at least three things you are thankful for - you may surprise yourselves!

I personally am so thankful for my friends here in Blanco - and the way they put up with my shenanigans! A special thank-you to MaryKay and Candi for spending my birthday with me...

Don’t forget Lavender Lights next weekend - we will be singing on the courthouse steps again - come and join us, and then enjoy the Square and the courthouse in all their splendor.

Lots of merchants will be open in the evenings, just in time for Christmas shopping.

Don’t forget the Christmas parade on December 12. There is still time to put a float or a car or a horse or just whatever you might want to use - even your feet - in the parade. Come join us - it is getting bigger by leaps and bounds!

And last, but not least, happy birthday to Lawrence Mikes!

On November 12, St. Ferdinand’s came to Live Oak to host their monthly birthday party. Everyone enjoyed a Dorothy Troppy angel food cake served with ice cream and punch.

Rebecca Howerton delivered the birthday gifts with balloons to our honorees, Lillian Cox, Cora Bindseil, Leslie Yett, and Erma Ann Wood. Darlene Kiernan played piano while everyone joined in singing many old time favorites.

Health Care Solutions nurses Barbara Gourley and Sylvia Penix came out to Live Oak on November 10 and sang an assortment of songs and songs from famous musicals.

Residents and staff guessed the name and what musical they were from. It turned out to be lots of fun!

Staff and volunteers at Live Oak Nursing Home took about 30 residents outside to watch the Veteran’s Day parade come by on Saturday. Resident veterans are: Marrein “Dick” Knoll, Dennis Murray, Roy Mays, Curtis Cox, Herbert Cowsert, and Leslie Yett.
