Johnson City’s Wildflower Days is April 19 and 20 in Memorial Park in downtown Johnson City on US Highway 290! Plan your day with fun and enticing activities for the entire family in the Wildflower Capital of the Texas Hill Country:

The Master Gardeners, Discuss with Us: Plant Topics: The Blanco County Master Gardeners’ Association will have specialists on hand to share their horticulture and landscaping knowledge beginning at 9:00AM each day. Additionally, the Master Gardeners will be selling plants, a great opportunity to augment your landscape! Proceeds from the plant sale will be applied to a special project the Master Gardeners are working on for the Blanco County AgriLife Office.

The Rain Machine: Colleen Gardner will be on hand to demonstrate the “Rain Machine.” This demo shows right before your eyes the importance and benefits of native grasses on the land. This is a must see.

Home and Garden Tour: Five interesting and historic homes and gardens invite you to come in: The Barnwell House, The Pearl Hotel, The Stribling House, the Johnson Settlement Log Cabin and the Chantilly Lace Country Inn and Lavender Farm. Learn about Johnson City’s early, hardy residents.

Booths: Check out a variety of arts and crafts vendors, foods and desserts of many flavors, and t-shirts, designed by local artist Mike Stewart, specially made for the Wildflower Days celebration.

Live Music: A potpourri of musical artists will be playing both days for your enjoyment.

Wildflower Tours: Spend part of the day with one of several self-guided wildflower tours around the Johnson City Hill Country. Maps available. Bluebonnets are already flooding our scenic routes. See routes on our web site.

Sunday Morning Photo Workshop with Professional Photographer Carol Watson: Join an early Sunday morning photo workshop to “catch the light.” Spend several hours with pro Carol Watson. See her unique work at her gallery near the Courthouse Square. More details to come.

National Park Service Displays and Live Presentations: Right in Johnson City visit our treasured NPS Visitors Center, the Johnson Settlement with native grasses and flowers, the LBJ Boyhood Home, and the magnificent Park facilities both in town and in nearby Stonewall.
