Car Wash Slated Saturday by Seniors
April 5, 1968
Members of the Senior Class will sponsor a Car Wash on Saturday, April 6, beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the Mobil Station.
Persons interested may call 833-4761 to have their car picked up or bring it to the station.
Prices are $1.25 per car, $1.50 per station wagon, $2.50 for a horse or $5.00 for an elephant. Proceeds from the project will be used by the class members for the Seniors Trip at the close of school.
Run-off election April 12
April 6, 1988
A Republican run-off election will be held on April 12 for the positions of U.S. Senate, Railroad Commissioner, and Supreme Court Justice place 2.
Voting will take place at the same location as the primary election which would be the Blanco Courthouse or the Johnson City Courthouse.
Absentee voting can be done at the Johnson City Courthouse up until the evening of April 8.
Blanco ISD vote count
April 7, 1978
Blanco ISD – Unofficial voting results of the board of trustees uncontested race indicated that Robert Klepac received 93 votes and Pat Emmel received 95 votes.
The board will meet Monday night and canvas the votes.
Write in votes were cast for Aaron Posey, Helen Waxler and Chester Weber (2 each) and Bill Stahl and Bernice West (1 each).
Square Dance Club To Hold Meeting
April 5, 1968
The Square Dance Club will hold its first meeting of spring on Monday, April 8 at 7:30 in the school Cafetorium. Mr. Cecil Rockwell, caller from Fentress, will again instruct the group.
The Club meets on the second and fourth Mondays of each month. Anyone interested in joining will be welcomed.
Hale, Moorehouse winners
April 7, 1978
Winners in the Blanco Boot and Shoe drawing on April 1, were announced by owner Ann Jones.
Mrs. Jessie Hale of Blanco won the clutch purse, Mrs. R.L. Moorehouse of Fall Creek won the man’s billfold.
Blanco council gets two new aldermen
April 7, 1978
Blanco – Apparently dissatisfied voters put two new candidates on the city council.
Ronnie Immel carried 136 votes and Wesley Joe Dechert 118 for alderman positions. Also returned to alderman position was incumbent Dick Knoll with the most votes of 171.
Incumbent Oren Sublett received 86 votes.

Mr. and Mrs. Jack Smith of Del Rio are the proud parents of a daughter, Dana Carol, born on March 29 at Val Verde Hospital. She weighed 7 pounds, 8 ounces.
Maternal grandmother is Mrs. Lurline Herrin, San Marcos.
Paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Smith of Blanco.
Mr. and Mrs. Darald Wright I are proud parents of an 8 ½ pound boy born March 29, 1968, in Pleasanton Hospital.
Maternal grandparents: Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Pancake of Dallas; great grandparents: Mr. and Mrs. Dovie Dowdy of Blanco, great, great grandparents: Mrs. Mary Cox of Blanco and Mrs. Henry Gourley of Boerne.
Fire Report
April 6, 1988
On Saturday 2, Johnson City, Wimberley, Fredericksburg, Stonewall and Henly volunteer fire departments assisted Blanco volunteer Fire Department on a fire call on George Ames’ property.
The brush fire which lasted from 2:00 p.m. until 12:30 a.m. destroyed over 1000 acres.
The BVFD would like to thank all the Blanco businesses for all the food and drinks that were donated. Also to Val Smith Exxon for supplying gas for the fire fighting units.
All the people that responded are to be commended. Everyone did an excellent job.
