Rockin’ R Steakhouse is pleased to introduce our new chef, Bud Bouldin. Chef Bouldin was born in Harlingen, Texas, and spent 9 years in the U. S. Navy as a Nuclear Machinist Mate. In 2001, he married Elizabeth Baylis. They have a 7-year-old daughter, Victoria Rose. Bud and his wife, Betsy, have lived in Blanco for 7 years. Many will recognize Betsy from Strickland Pharmacy, where she has worked for 9 years.

Bud always had a love of food, and decided to join the culinary field. He graduated from the Texas Culinary Academy of Austin, Texas as Valedictorian in 2004. He Interned at Westin La Cantera in San Antonio before taking a position at Rose Hill Manor in Stonewall as the Pastry Chef.

Bud has worked at Horseshoe Bay Resort & Yacht Club as the Executive Banquet Chef.

He brings a love of good food and desserts, plus his valuable experience, to Rockin’ R Steakhouse. We are in the process of adding new and exciting items to our Lunch and Dinner menus, including Wraps, Melts, more Kid-Friendly items, and Appetizers such as Grilled Shrimp Cocktail, Bloomin’ Onion, Potato Skins, and Oysters Rockefeller. New salad and veggie choices are also on the way, with favorites like Roasted Garlic Mashers, Steak Fries, Grilled Asparagus, and Sautéed Spinach. If you have been in for dinner, you would have noticed that our dessert case is often empty. That is because our customers love all the new desserts Bud has created. From Lemon Cheesecake to Black Forest Cake and lots of other wonderful sweets, desserts vary all the time. And we still have our house specialties, Flaming Cherries Jubilee and Bananas Foster tableside.

We invite everyone to stop in and meet Bud, welcome him to Rockin’ R, and enjoy some of his culinary treats.
