In conjunction with Earth Day, the Blanco County Master Gardeners’ Association will be sponsoring a Plant Propagation Workshop on April 22nd. The workshop will be held in Johnson City at the LBJ National Historical Park - Settlement Events Center. The workshop begins at 9:00 a.m. and will conclude at noon.

The workshop will cover several aspects of plant propagation and will be a hands-on event with materials for propagating plants provided to the participants. The major topics include proper techniques for seed germination, propagating with plant cuttings, making different types of propagation hot beds, and propagating antique roses.

Numerous inexpensive and ecologically sound propagation techniques will be discussed and demonstrated. All materials necessary to complete the propagation techniques being discussed will be provided to the participants and are to be taken home at the conclusion of the workshop.

The workshop will be limited to 30 participants and pre-registration is encouraged to ensure there is room for all who wish to attend. You may pre-register by calling Todd Swift, Blanco County Extension Agent, at 830-868-7167. The workshop is free and will offer 3 Continuing Education Credits for those who attend.

The LBJ Settlement Event Center is accessed from Nugent St. behind the Feed Mill in Johnson City. Enter the park service road and it will wind to your left to the Event Center.
