Saturday, April 5, you will see over 100 volunteers, in bright yellow shirts, working together to clean up litter and haul off items out of their yards to clean up the banks and waterway of the Blanco River to "Make Blanco Beautiful." If you drive by the Blanco City Yard on Jones Ave. today, you will see that volunteer compliance with city ordinance 332 has already begun. There are piles of trash, metal, appliances, equipment, brush piles and items that people no longer want but someone else may be able to use.

If you drive around the neighborhoods today, you will see a lot of items in yards that people no longer use, need or want. They just don't have a place to dump it for free. On the 5th, they will at the City Yard on Jones Ave., behind the cemetery. If you drive around on April 6, you will see many of the homes still have the same unused refrigerators, washers, dryers and furniture in their yards.

If you cannot get your unwanted items to the city yard, please call Blanco City Hall 833-4525 to get on the list. There will be trucks and trailers available to help pick these items up.

Voluntary compliance to keep Blanco beautiful is what KBB strives for with our volunteer efforts and education. If there is not voluntary compliance the city has the Junk Car Ordinance and the Nuisance Ordinance 332 that has enforcement provisions. It is their responsibility to the citizens of Blanco to enforce these ordinances if needed. The city has phone numbers for people to take your junk vehicles.

We are looking forward to a fun day of work and fellowship on the 5th. Meet on the courthouse lawn and remember, there is lunch for the volunteers.

Let's All Work to Make and Keep
