In an effort to save the Blanco Police Department on training costs, Interim Chief Carl Bragg has begun hosting classes for area law enforcement officers at Gem of the Hills in Blanco. The classes are taught by instructors from Texas Department of Public Safety.
On Tuesday, September 22, the officers met at 8:00am at Gem of the Hills to learn the procedures and protocol for registering and monitoring sex offenders.
Officers from surrounding areas attended the session, including members of the Burnet PD, Cottonwood Shores PD, Horseshoe Bay PD and numerous others.
State law requires that all sex offenders register with their local police department or sheriff’s department.
They are placed into a statewide database that is accessible to the public. The database lists the offender, the crime, current address and other pertinent facts related to their case. The database can be found at www.txdps.state.tx.us. Searches can be done based on county, zip code or address and can be viewed in either map mode or by list.
