Blanco Middle School will be hosting an Open House on Thursday, March 13, as part of Texas Public Schools Week activities.

The theme for this year’s Open House is, “Education: Go Get It!” Throughout the week, students and teachers will be discussing the importance of education, and the opportunities young people have in their future in regards to college.

Dr. Buck Ford, middle school principal, had this to say about the Open House, “We have been planning for this for about a month. We invite all parents and family members to attend. We also want to especially invite all the 5th grade students and their parents.”

“We’ll serve hot dogs, chips, and tea to everyone starting at 5:30. Our middle school band, cheerleaders, and dance team will perform. We’ll have a short program starting at 6:00, and following the program, we will open our hallways up for visitors. Teachers will have student work and classroom projects displayed.”

“During our program, we will honor the oldest Blanco High School graduate, and the oldest retired teacher. The Blanco Masonic Lodge will also have a representative here to award the Lamar Medal to an outstanding educator.”

“Our theme is “Education: Go Get It!” We’re encouraging everyone who attends to wear something that represents a college. Our teachers will be wearing their college colors and emblems. We’ll also have ticket drawings for college shirts and memorabilia. We’d like to see as many people promoting college as possible.”

“The PTO has been great in supporting our Open House. They will have a welcome table set up, and everyone who attends will receive a ribbon that shows their support for Texas Public Schools.”

“We look forward to seeing everyone there next Thursday evening.”
