On Tuesday March 11 Blanco Elementary will host the First Annual “Math Counts and Science Matters” event; an exciting evening of Math and Science activities geared for elementary aged children and their families.

Registration will begin at 5:30 pm and continue to 6:10 pm in front of the elementary school office. Cookies and punch (courtesy of the gracious cafeteria staff) will be available in the elementary school lunchroom at this time as well.

Math and Science sessions will run on twenty minute rotations beginning at 6:10pm until 8:10pm; Families will have a variety of activities to choose from and may attend as many as five sessions during the two hours allotted. Participant numbers will be limited to about ten people per activity and participants will have five minutes to move between sessions. Two of the sessions will be hosted by Ms. Mary Alice Partain, Interpretive Park Ranger from Blanco State Park and Kirk Beckendorf, Blanco Middle School Eighth Grade Science Teacher. Partain will host sessions pertaining to fish printing; Beckendorf will present photos and information about his recent science trip to Antarctica.

Flyers with more details about the sessions will be sent home with each elementary student this week. Students attending must be accompanied by an adult.
