Our beloved mother, Julia Ann Frances (Cooley) Herrin, went to be with our heavenly Father on Thursday, June 25, 2009, in Blanco, Texas at the age of 97. She is survived by her daughters, Wilta Bottles and Aline Wright, both of Kendalia, Texas; three grandsons, Kevin Wright of Kendalia, Texas, Howard Bottles and wife Karlyn of Driftwood, Texas and Richard Wright and wife Susan of Sandia, Texas. She is also survived by four great-grandchildren: Shelby Lynne and Remington Wright and Keith and Kaitlyn Bottles.

She was preceded in death by her husband Richard Herrin, sister Nancy Syring, brothers Benjamin, Charlie, Samuel, and Alfred Cooley as well as two infant siblings. Julia was born February 10, 1912, in Bergheim, Texas and spent her entire life in the area. She and her husband, Richard, were married on December 20, 1934, and farmed and ranched all their lives. He passed away July 5, 1979.

Julia loved gardening and growing flowers in her yard. She loved to can vegetables and taught her daughters how to can and cook. She was a member of the Kendalia Community Church and was baptized in Curry Creek on September 7, 1975, along with her grandson Howard and daughter Wilta. She was always there for her family and her extended family whether it be during an illness or seeing that someone needed a meal or support. As someone once said, “she was a beautiful example of the good woman described in Proverbs 31.” She has many friends and family who will miss her smiling face. Julia was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.

A visitation was held Monday, June 29, 2009, from 6:00 to 8:00pm at Ebensberger-Fisher Funeral Home. Funeral services honoring Julia’s life were held on Tuesday, June 30, 2009, at 10:00am at Ebensberger-Fisher Funeral Home in Boerne with the burial following at Jones Cemetery.
