Morris Cox Scores High

San Antonio – The number one pistol shot in the Patrolman Division, of the City of San Antonio’s Park Ranger Division is Blanco native, Morris E. Cox, son of Mrs. Julia E. Cox.
Cox is a veteran of six years in the Rangers. In re-qualifying with his weapon, he scored 97.6 out of a possible 100.

Army Specialist Five Henry C. Blackburn, 25, son of Mr. and Mrs. William I. Blackburn of Blanco, was assigned May 7 to the 1st Logistical Command in Vietnam, as a truck driver.
His wife, Sandra, lives in Omaha, Nebraska.
FHA Girls at Fischer

Cranes Mill – Forty-three Area VII Future Homemakers of America from the South Central Section of Texas converged upon Harambe Oaks Ranch June 4-6.
The group spent most of its time in brainstorming sessions, assertive workshops, and committee meetings.
Time was allowed for recreation, however, and the Homemakers also participated in swimming, croquet, Frisbee, volleyball, horseshoes and hiking.
Tuesday evening Harambe held a barbecue for the group.
C of C to meet Monday

The Blanco Chamber of Commerce covered dish supper and meeting will be held Monday, June 16, in the school cafeteria at 7:00 p.m.
The executive board would like to thank all those who participated in the fund raising barbecue held June 1.
Rae Doran, president, said he appreciated the efforts of those who helped prepare the barbecue and the ladies for their donations of pies, cakes and cookies.
He also expressed thanks to all the people who bought food and made such a success of the sale.
Little League
June 15, 1979
Blanco Minor Girls turned back visiting Johnson City girls in youth softball action June 8.
Leading the way for the winners were Shelly Vest and Florasella Calzoncit with home runs, Lanae Riba and Grances Perez two hits each, Sheila Dechert, Amy Smith and Jennifer Klepac with one each.
Blanco also turned in a double play.
No results were available for Johnson City as the scorebook did not list complete names.
Blanco receives drop in bucket

Austin – Texas State Comptroller Bob Bullock Thursday said Texas counties will share more than $365,407 in state funds under law designed to encourage voter registration and accurate registration lists.
The law provides local reimbursement of 40 cents for each new registered voter and 40 cents for each cancellation made to update the list.
