The personal stories of eight Blanco residents will be featured at the Library’s Brown Bag Series program entitled “The Way We Were—The l940s” at noon March 5.
“Everyone is invited to join us to experience the 40s through listening to the memories of our friends who lived through the World War II era,” said Jan Redmond, who is coordinator of the series.
“We are so grateful to those who have shared their personal memoirs to provide the material and photographs for this program,” Redmond continued. “From the stories of a paratrooper, a college girl, an elementary student, and a young mother in the l940s, we think a picture of this era will emerge.”
Those who attend are welcome to bring a lunch and enjoy beverages and desserts which will be furnished by the library.
Darlene Kirnan will be playing the keyboard while the audience is invited to sing along on such wartime songs as “When the Lights Go On Again All over the World,” “Chattanooga Choo Choo,” “God Bless America,” and” I’ll be Seeing you.”
