Wheeling around the dining area of his restaurant on Main St., Gaspar Enriquez is back doing what he loves--working at Cilantro's Restaurtant. Gaspar was critically injured in an accident on US Highway 281 back on September 19. He had to be airlifted from the scene and spent time in the Intensive Care Unit at Wilford Hall Medical Center on Lackland Air Force Base.

Gaspar's wife, Margarita, re-opened Cilantro's for breakfast and lunch after the accident. Now, Gaspar is learning to drive his wheelchair and, after months of rehabilitation, hopes to walk again in 10 days.

"I've been eager to come back," Gaspar said from the patio outside the restaurant. He has been working at the rehabilitation so he can come back and work. When he returned home, he missed the hospital--the ability to punch a button and have a nurse come. "I've had to get better so I could get out of the house."

"I feel happy," Gaspar says. "Business is coming up. Four months is not a long time, but it seemed longer. It's starting to look better."

Gaspar has been back at Cilantro's, talking with customers and helping out, for seven days straight. "It's like therapy for me," he explains.

He thanks everyone for their support during his recovery. He now looks forward to returning to cooking, maybe Italian and Chinese specials in the future. "I have to be up to make the dishes," Gaspar says. "I like to do it myself."
