Deena and Tom Gardner spent some time in San Antonio taking care of their grand-dogs, a Yorkie and 2 schnauzers. I am sure a good time was had by all!

Sally Wall of Blanco was feted not once, but twice for her birthday, which was January 28. One day they went to Fredericksburg and the other day they were taken to Johnson City to the Silver K Cafe by their friends, Conrad and Joan Sauer. We wish Sally a belated birthday here in the paper (although I sang to her at the library).

We want to extend our sympathy to Sabrina Weaner, one of my co-workers at Strickland's, in the loss of her stepdad, Tiny West. He was a really nice man, who always had a big smile on his face; at least, he did when I would wait on him at the drugstore. He will be sorely missed by lots and lots of people.

Don't forget all the events that will be coming up in the weeks and months ahead to celebrate the Blanco County Sesquicentennial, not only here but in Johnson City as well. Please check the calendar at www.blancochamber.com or the web page Charles just whipped up, blancocounty150.com. This is your opportunity to shed those corporate clothes and dress in period costume all year long!

Miss Savannah Nichole McDougall of Kyle was honored on her seventh birthday last Thursday evening, a quite chilly January 24, in San Marcos at Mamacita’s with a dinner party hosted by C.A. Rust III. Special guests included her father Sam McDougall, her mother and stepfather Danielle and Chris Davis, and her brothers Kyle and Archer Alexander Davis. A birthday serenade and the serving of ther chosen desert of carrot cake, prepared by “Grandpa” C.A., concluded the celiebration.

Palo Duro Canyon State Park and Caprock Canyons State Park in the Texas Panhandle provided Sam McDougall and C.A. Rust III scenic vistas and hikes on the first February weekend.
