Herman Joseph Riba of Blanco, Texas, passed away on Sunday, February 3, 2008, at the age of 92 years. Born to Joe Riba and Sophie Weber Riba on May 24, 1915, he was a lifelong resident, living most of his adult life on the farm and ranch he and his wife purchased in 1941 east of Blanco.

He is survived by his wife, Mildred, two children, son Joe D. Riba of Blanco and daughter Patsy Lewis of Johnson City, seven grandchildren, Lanae Banks and husband Craig of Dripping Springs, Dana Wagner and husband Darrel, and Joe David Riba and wife Jennifer, all of Blanco, Jan Haley DeLeo and husband Tom of Hartsdale, NY, James Haley and wife Shauna, Lance Haley and wife Stephanie and Larry Haley, all of Johnson City, thirteen great-grandchildren, one brother, Victor Riba and wife Sybil of San Antonio and a sister Elizabeth Sorrell of Blanco, many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Oswald Riba and sister Josephine Walsh.

Funeral services will be Thursday, February 7, at 10:00 a.m., at St. Ferdinand Catholic Church in Blanco, with burial immediately following at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Twin Sisters, Texas.

Visitation will be Wednesday, February 6, at Croft’s Funeral Home in Blanco from 5:00-7:00 p.m., with a Rosary immediately following at 7:00 p.m..

Herman Riba will be remembered as being a kind man, a good husband, father, brother, uncle, neighbor & friend, but most of all for just being Grandpa.
