Combined Community Action, Inc. (CCA) would like to inform the public of the availability of funds for the Weatherization Assistance Program. The Weatherization program is designed to serve the low-income, elderly, handicapped and families with small children of Austin, Bastrop, Blanco, Caldwell, Colorado, Fayette, Ft. Bend, Hays, and Lee counties.
Weatherization is a program to help reduce energy consumption by making your home more energy efficient. The program is not a renovation program; therefore, the program does not address cosmetic improvements or improvements which do not directly affect the heating and cooling of your home.
The Weatherization Program is designed to make your home energy efficient and address the burden of high utility bills. By reducing the amount of electricity or gas you use, you will save yourself money. The program limits the amount of money that can be spent on a home for weatherization improvements. Weatherization cost and the weatherization completed on the home will vary based on the condition of the home. An assessment will be made of the home to identify the location of cracks, holes and spaces where air escapes.
In order to be eligible, an applicant must be living in the home. Income guidelines must also be met. A household of one cannot have an annual income of more than $13,538 and a family of four’s income cannot exceed $27, 562 annually. Individuals renting a home can also apply for this service with Landlord agreement. Priority will be given to the elderly, handicapped and families with small children. This service is provided free of charge to eligible households.
